Let’s try removing prostitution from the equation for just a moment so we can see how attrocious the act of criminalizing prostitution is against women. Let’s talk about a woman’s right to be a porn star (which is basically a prostitute on camera), a woman’s right to be a phone sex operator, a woman’s right to be a model, a woman’s right to be a massage therapist and a woman’s right to charge for her time to go to a social event. All of these different rights are unquestioned. Every woman has the right to do any of the above without the fear of criminal prosecution. The difference between those rights (collectively) and prostitution is nothing. However when you combine all of those services into one, that’s when it becomes illegal. Sociert has created double standards that completely fly in the face of reason, and yet no one raises a finger to do anything about it.
A porn star is someone who has sex with strangers and gets paid for it, however under the guise of it being filmed, all is well. A woman who practices phone sex for a living is providing a service that gets off her clients on an intimate and personal basis, however because it’s not physical and the service is provided over the phone it’s okay. A woman who is a web cam operator, both having sex with herself for the viewing pleasure of a man over the internet and watching him while he pleasures himself is ok. A woman who makes money off of her body working as a model can be hired by any one at any time and no one thinks twice about it, its ok. A woman who is a massage therapist charges a client money for services rendered that are done behind closed doors with no one else observing and its ok.
So where did society get the idea that all of these acts on their own are 100% okay but when a woman charges a man to have sex with her or for her to provide other sexual services to the man, it’s not okay? This is not only a glaring civil rights issue, as it’s no one’s business what two consenting adults do behind closed doors, it is also a issue of common sense.
If a mechanic could play the part of a mechanic in a movie, he could offer advice over the phone, he could offer advice via web cam over the internet, he could offer conulting advice behind closed doors where no one is watching and it’s completely unsupervised and he can also earn an income by flaunting his knowledge of the subject to the masses, however working for hire on a car was strictly forbidden, we’d look at it like it’s crazy. However with prostitution this is not considered crazy by most, this is considered perfectly normal because sex is taking place.
Well, let me remind everyone that prostitution is the world’s oldest profession. Which leads me to my next argument.
